The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association estimates that about 5,500 gallons of diesel is consumed per truck mixer, per year. NRMCA has been gathering data on truck mixer fleets for the past ten years via our Fleet Benchmarking and Cost Survey. Other key financial performance benchmarks for the ready mixed concrete industry are derived via our Industry Data Survey. Some of the data is made available at no cost only to member companies that participate in the survey(s), but here are a few key data points that answer your question: The average United States truck mixer in 2007: 1) Got 3.4 miles per gallon. 2) Was driven 17,755 miles. 3) Hauled over 5,500 cubic yards. 4) Used 1.06 gallons of fuel per cubic yard delivered. A report on the most recent Fleet Benchmarking Survey will appear in the next edition of NRMCA's Concrete In-Focus magazine. Industry-specific fleet benchmarking is taught and discussed at our new Fleet manager Certification Course. |
